Descent 4 v1 by Hexit Descent 4 v1 by Hexit
Note: This is a 50% sized piece. A 100% watermarked version can be found here: [link]

I've worked on and off this for over 7 months now. It's had numerous incarnations, a bit like my "NTK" project. And here it is; some fanart... again.

Descent got me through my childhood and onwards. Even now, I play it at least once a week. And so, I heard rumours of a sequel and thought; "What would I want to see in it?". And this is what I invisioned.

About 518 layers, with alot of my own stock of fractals and textures being used. I even threw in some of the wireframe models from the first Descent games!

So this one is to you; Interplay Productions and your gut-wrenching claustrophobic six-degrees-of-freedom brainchild. Thanks for the kickass series, and I hope for more to come. :)

Well, Interplay last year re-registered "Descent" as a trademark and also reacquired its rights from Violition Software if I recall correctly. So, who knows... D4 could appear soon.

And thankyou very much! :)

Aha! Descent, the game that makes you twist and tilt your head without you knowing it.
The original was a classic!

Good style and use of colour.

Hehe. Descent is a classic, and surprisingly not-very-well remembered at that.

Thankyou very much for the kind words and the fav. :)

Hehe, thankyou. Although, I don't know how I can't not amaze you. Surely you expect this standard, so I have to now go beyond it..?

I'm just lost for words, man. The dramatic colours, the very hi-tech feel of this, the eerie alien backdrop, the impressive battle damage detail on the spacecraft...this is high standard stuff. Best of all is how you have this from the perspective of the cockpit, just as you would in the games, and there's a real widescreen, cinematic feel to this as well. I can only imagine what Interplay would think if they ever saw this. Fantastic work, without a momen't doubt.
